Abhijith B R led a workshop at BSides Las Vegas 2024 on planning and executing adversary emulation engagements, safely emulating threat actors in an enterprise lab equipped with AV, web proxies, and EDR.
Participants were able to safely emulate a variety of threat actors inside a controlled, enterprise-level environment. Every machine in the lab was equipped with anti-virus, web proxies, EDR, and other defensive systems, giving a realistic sense of what attackers run into. The workshop broke down each attack vector used in the lab in detail and walked step by step through the full attack path across an entire enterprise network.
The aim was to help attendees assess their own defenses and evaluate how the security controls deployed in their organization would hold up against a motivated adversary.
