In this DEF CON 31 conversation, our founder Abhijith B R sat down with Alex Chaveriat to talk about the Adversary Village community and the Adversary Wars CTF the village was running at the DEF CON 31 hacker convention in Las Vegas.
Adversary Wars is a capture-the-flag competition built around adversary attack simulation, threat-actor emulation, purple team tactics, and adversary tradecraft. Players work through a fictional city, complete with realistic infrastructure such as hospitals, banks, and government buildings, that has been breached by a fictional threat actor. Using cyber threat intelligence, teams reconstruct the intrusion and work out just how deeply the group compromised the city's systems, while a physical miniature model of the city, built from plastic bricks, tracks each team's progress live as the competition unfolds.
